Ha Noi celebrates the 230th anniversary of Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da victory (09:48 10/02/2019)


HNP - The Party Committee - the People’s Council - the People’s Committee and the Viet Nam Fatherland Front’s Chapter of Ha Noi solemnly organized a ceremony to mark the 230th anniversary of Ngoc Hoi – Dong Da victory against Chinese Qing invaders (1789 - 2019) and receive a certification recognizing the Dong Da Mound as a special national historical relic on February 9th (the fifth day of Lunar New Year).

The event saw the attendance of Politburo member, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Politburo member, permanent member of the Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong; Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of Viet Nam Nguyen Hoa Binh. 
 
Among Ha Noi’s leaders were Politburo member, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai; former Politburo member, former Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi; PCC member and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang; PCC member and Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung; Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Dao Duc Toan; Permanent Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan; Head of the Municipal Party Committee’s Organization Commission Vu Duc Bao; Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy.

At the start of the ceremony, local residents held a procession to carry sedan chairs of Emperor Quang Trung and Empress Le Ngoc Han to a temple dedicated to him at the Dong Da Mound.
 
A delegation led by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and various local residents, visitors offered incense and flowers to commemorate Emperor Quang Trung, who led the battle. At the ceremony, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc handed over a certification recognizing the Dong Da Mound as a special national historical relic to the Party Organization, authority, and people of Ha Noi.

On behalf of the Ha Noi Party Committee, People’s Committee and people, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung recalled the resounding victory by King Quang Trung 230 years ago.
 
He affirmed that the victory has been a testament to the pinnacle of military art of Viet Nam as well as an example of the Vietnamese’ undaunted spirit to fight against foreign invaders.
 
The Dong Da Mound recognized as a special national historical relic will promote its development as well as raise people’s responsibility to conserve the relic site, he added.
 
The Chairman praised local residents’ unity in the city’s remarkable achievements in 2018 and adding that in 2019, the Municipal Party Committee, People’s Committee and people will make more effort to overcome difficulties and challenges to fulfill all socio-economic targets, ensure national security and defence, contributing to building a modern, civilized and prosperous capital city.
