According to a report of the Municipal Police, in the peak period close to traditional Tet, from January 30th to February 2nd (25th -28th of the last lunar month), flows of people and vehicles flocked to five major bus stations, namely Giap Bat, My Dinh, Yen Nghia, Nuoc Ngam, Gia Lam, and key routes to the inner city, Tet flower fairs.
From February 2nd to 8th (the last day of the lunar year to the fourth day of the first lunar month), a large number of local residents gathered at places holding fireworks displays, cultural activities, music performances, and pagodas in the city.
During the seven-day holiday, traffic safety and order in the city has been maintained. No racing was reported. The number of traffic accidents saw a reduction in both deaths and injuries compared to the same period last year. One traffic accidents was recorded throughout the city, killing one and injuring the other.

During the seven-day holiday, Traffic Police checked and handled a total of 329 cases with the total fine of VND 98 million.
Addressing the event, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung recognized and praised effort of the Ha Noi Police as well as their gained achievements during Tet.
He said that traffic jams have recorded positive changes, especially the number of traffic accidents have reduced.
To ensure traffic safety and order in 2019, the city leader urged the Ha Noi Police in general and Traffic Police in particular to focus on a number of key missions, including: strengthening communication and law dissemination to raise people’s awareness of strictly abiding by regulations; enhancing the cooperation with sectors, units and localities to synchronously take solutions to maintain traffic safety in the city, gradually removing black points and traffic jams.
The Chairman also requested the Ha Noi Police to strictly handle violation cases, fully equipped with quick test equipment for traffic policemen on duty. Especially, transportation businesses continue carrying out a plan on health checkups for all drivers, he urged.
He hoped that the Police would launch many programs to contribute to ensuring traffic safety and order in the city in 2019 and following years.
