Ung Hoa District urged to raise new-style rural criteria (09:05 22/08/2019)


HNP - Ung Hoa District on August 20 held a conference to sum up ten years of implementing Program No. 02-CTr/TU of the Hanoi Party Committee on “Developing agriculture, building new style rural areas, improving farmers’ living standards”. Over the past ten years, the district has positively strengthened the transformation of agriculture; issued many preferential policies for production, restructuring of crops and animals; planned concentrated areas of high quality rice, safe vegetables, fruits, and aquaculture.  


As of July, the value of agricultural sector was estimated at over VND1.9 trillion, accounting for 46.92% of the annual plan, up 4.29% year on year.


Furthermore, Ung Hoa has paid attention to preventing diseases in animals, tightening the control of slaughter houses, and expanding pig breeding farms away from residential areas in communes of Van Thai, Hong Quang and Son Cong.


So far, 19 out of 28 communes have been recognized as new style rural areas, and the rest has tried their best to finish the work in 2020.


During the ten-year implementation, Ung Hoa has mobilized VND1.6 trillion for the new style rural building for the period of 2010-2015. And a total of over VND2.1 trillion will be spent on the program for the next period.

Ung Hoa has focused on infrastructure development to meet the requirement of the work. Per capita income reached VND37.1 million in 2018, and it was estimated at VND41 million in 2019. The rate of poor households was 2.41%, down 11.08% compared to 2011.


Speaking at the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu appreciated the district’s efforts in building new style rural areas.

Regarding key missions, he urged the district to continue strengthening production and economic restructuring associated with labor restructuring; developing hi-tech agriculture to improve farmers’ living standards; enhancing the mechanization in agricultural production; focusing on links of production, processing and consumption to ensure sustainable cultural development.

In terms of building new style rural areas, the Vice Chairman requested the district to review and fulfill all criteria; strictly handle violations of dyke management, environmental pollution, food safety and hygiene.


He also called on the city’s entities to support Ung Hoa in building new style rural areas.


Particularly, Departments of Planning and Investment, Education and Training, and Health are assigned to accelerate the construction of electricity system, rural roads, schools and health stations.


The Department of Industry and Trade is requested to support the district in building industrial parks and clusters to create the best conditions for locals’ economic development as well as reduce environmental pollution.


Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will guide the district to expand its concentrated production areas.
