Hanoi’s economy maintains high growth in H1 (22:30 08/07/2019)


HNP - At the 9th session of 15th Hanoi People’s Council for the tenure of 2016-2020 held on July 8, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung gave a report on the outcomes of the city’s socio-economic plan execution, budget revenue and expenditure in the first half, and key missions in the second half of 2019.

According to the report, in the first half of the year, the city’s economy maintained its high growth. Particularly, gross regional domestic product (GRDP) expanded by 7.21% (compared to 7.15% in the same period last year). State budget revenue reached nearly VND134 trillion, accounting for 50.2% of the estimate, up nearly 13% year on year

 

The number of tourists to Hanoi reached 14.4 million, up 9.5% year on year, including 3.3 million international visitors, up 10.6% year on year. The total revenue from tourism increased by 29.8%.

 

In realizing Resolution No. 02/NQ-CP dated January 1, 2019 of the Government on major missions an measures to improve business environment and increase national competitiveness in 2019 and orientation to 2021, Hanoi ranked 9th among 63 provinces and cities in the country in the 2018 provincial competitiveness index (PCI), up 4 levels compared to 2017 while maintaining its second place nationwide in the 2018 Public Administration Reform (PAR) index.

 

Also, the city Hanoi has streamlined 71 administrative procedures, and provided 72% of online public services at the stages of 3 and 4.

 

Over the past half, Hanoi has granted business licenses for 13,630 new enterprises (up 9%). The total social investment was about VND140 trillion, up 12.02%. FDI capital reached US$5.03 billion, taking the lead in FDI attraction.

 

Besides, the city has gained remarkable achievements in rural and urban management and development, education, health care, administrative reform and social welfare.

 

However, apart from the outcomes, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung pointed out several shortcomings and weaknesses in completing the assigned tasks.

 

According to the Vice Chairman, in the remaining months, Hanoi will focus on effectively carrying out set missions and measures while completing preparations for the 17th Municipal Party Congress.

The city will roll out the pilot management project on urban administration; take drastic measures to complete unfulfilled targets; speed up the construction and capital disbursement for basic construction; mobilize all resources to combat African swine fever; enhance regional connectivity and market stability.

 

Among tasks stated in the report included creating jobs and improving the quality of education and health care; ensuring social welfare; increasing PAPI (The Viet Nam Provincial Governance and Public Administration); strengthening administrative reform; re-organizing the streamlining apparatus; maintaining political security, social order and safety; tightening the cooperation with collectives, social and political organizations to execute socio-economic development missions, among others.
