National census to be conducted on April 1st, 2019 (14:13 15/03/2019)


HNP - The Central Population and Housing Census Steering Committee on March 13th held a video conference on 2019 population and housing census. The event was chaired by Vuong Dinh Hue, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Central Steering Committee. Vice Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Doan Toan attended the conference together with leaders of districts and townships.

The 2019 national population and housing census is conducted nationwide to collect population and housing data. Thus, it is necessary to draw the positive participation of the entire political system. Ministries and sectors are requested to tighten the cooperation in preparing for the census.

The Central Steering Committee has also focused on organizing training courses on professional skills, completing census questionnaires and other documents, developing information technology facilities for data collection from April 1st – 25th, 2019.

The census is scheduled to be launched at 0:00 hour on April 1, 2019; the data will be gathered during 25 days, beginning 7:00 on April 1st, ending on April 25th, 2019 at the latest.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Doan Toan said that the capital city has always followed the Government’s instruction on population and housing census.


The city established Steering Committees at all levels to strengthen the dissemination and complete all preparations for the census, Nguyen Doan Toan said.

Addressing the event, Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue stressed the importance of the general census in in collecting data for national socio-economic development.

He requested all-level Party Committees and local authorities to strengthen census dissemination among people.

Meanwhile, localities, ministries and sectors are tasked to follow the census’s contents and targets with the focus on population information, migration status, academic attainment level, technological specialization, disability rate, marital status, birth and death rate, population growth, labor and occupation, among others.
