The event was attended by Head of the Municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Nguyen Lan Huong, and leaders of Committees on Ethnic Minority Affairs in northern provinces and the city’s departments, sectors, and collectives.
Accordingly, over the past years, Ha Noi has asked sectors of ethnic minority affairs, education and training to synchronously take solutions to improve the quality of education, thus making positive changes of education in ethnic minority region. Ethnic minority students have gained high achievements in competitions, contributing to taking the lead in education.
Out of a total of 125 students honored in the school year of 2017-2018, there are 71 ones from the Muong, 19 from the Tay group, 10 from the Dao, 9 from the Nung, 7 from the Thai, 4 from the Cao Lan, 4 from the Hoa and one from the Giay ethnic group.
Especially, 25 of them received certificates of merit from the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs and the Municipal People’s Committee for their excellent results in the school year of 2017 - 2018.
To gain the above achievements, in addition to efforts of students, the city’s sectors and agencies have paid special attention to investing in infrastructure development and effectively carrying out many preferential policies for ethnic minorities. So far, ethnic areas have had 32 out of 60 schools meeting national standards.
In 2017, Ha Noi spent over VND 6.1 billion implementing policies and mechanisms for students and teachers in ethnic minority areas.
Speaking at the honoring ceremony, Head of the Municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Nguyen Lan Huong emphasized that in the process of current renovation and international integration, ethinic minority students must be well aware of their responsibilities as well as make more efforts to gain better achievements.
