Since the beginning of 2018, Ha Noi has recorded 1,639 HFMD cases in 30 districts, suburban districts and towns. Although no death has been reported, the number of cases always increases in the last months of the year. Most patients were children under five years old. Thus, to proactively prevent HFMD epidemic and control the number of new cases, the Department of Health asked People’s Committees of districts, suburban districts and towns to carry out a number of key tasks, including:
- Requesting Divisions of Education and Training in collaboration with Medical Centers to take various solution to prevent HFMD outbreak, enhance the popularization of preventive measures among teachers and pupils; encourage parents to take their children with symptoms of HFMD to medical establishments for early treatment; instruct schools to launch environmental sanitation campaigns as regulated; ask schools to timely inform pupils with suspected HFMD to medical facilities to examine.
- Asking People’s Committees of communes, wards to enhance inspection and urge education establishments, especially preschools, primary schools to strictly take solutions for HFMD prevention as instructed by the healthcare sector.
- Strengthening the popularization of preventive measures to the community, such as launching environmental sanitation, washing hands with soap, cleaning toys, etc.
The Department of Health requested Chair-people of People’s Committees of districts, suburban districts and towns to pay special attentions to directing HFMD prevention and control more effectively.
