According to Vice Director of the Department Nguyen Minh Muoi said that Ha Noi has been increasing effort for environment management, striving to improve quality of the air.
For example, the Department launched project to encourage people not to burn the straw after harvest, use microbiological treatment to make organic fertilizer from the straw on site, and program on using environmentally friendly cooking stove.
It also increased efforts to call for investment of the private sector in environmental protection. 10 automatic air monitoring stations and one automatic air monitoring vehicle are put into operation; data is transferred to the Center for further processing and management, and to serve state management. Information of air quality is updated on Ha Noi Portal, and website of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Ha Noi Radio and Television.
Six automatic surface water monitoring stations are set up and put into use in West Lake and Hoan Kiem Lake, as well as To Lich, Nhue, Cau Bay rivers and Lai Son stream.
Speaking at the conference, Vietnamese and foreign participants shared information about air quality in Ha Noi and the city’s strategy. They also discussed measures to improve quality of the air in the fields of power and waste management, urban planning, transport, community space and health; supervision of air quality; education and communications, and mobilization of resources.
Furthermore, the organizing board of the conference introduced ideas to protect the environment, enterprises’ measures to improve quality of the air, such as measuring quality of air, using face masks, taking technology measure, electronic collection and management of waste, and using natural products towards sustainable consumption.
