The conference saw the attendance of Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai; Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Deputy Head of the Central Council for Emulation and Reward Tran Thi Ha; Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, among others.
Addressing the conference, Chairman Chung affirmed that over the past 62 years after Liberation Day (October 10, 1954), from a small city with the area of 130km2 and the population of nearly 400,000 people, Ha Noi nowadays is not only the capital city, the center of political, national administration, major centers of culture, education, science and technology, economy and international exchange, but also a large urban, multi-oriented and modern civilized city with the area of 3,340km2 and the population of over 7.5 million people.

He stressed that this year marks the 24th anniversary of Ha Noi’s “good people, good deeds” movement, which has been responded by a large number of locals. Over the past 24 years, the movement has developed deeply and widely, contributing to completing the socio-economic tasks of the capital city. In every field there are bright examples of dedication to works, high sense of responsibility and creativity.

He said that in the remaining months of the year, the capital city will continue connecting the ‘Good people, good deeds’ movement with patriotism emulation movement of the city and localities, units; strive to fulfill the targets, tasks in 2016 and 2017; continue implementing effectively the ‘Year of urban order and civilization’, ‘Year of administrative discipline’ and the "Food safety’ movement.
On the occasion, the city announced the Decisions of Prime Minister to award medals to former leaders of the city for their contribution to the development of the capital city, including: former Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao to receive Independence Medal, first class; former Head of Inspection Committee of the Municipal Party Committee Tran Trong Duc to receive Independence Medal, third class; former Chairman of Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Ha Noi Dao Van Binh and former Head of the Popularization and Education Department of Ha Noi Communist Party Ho Quang Loi to receive Labor Medal, third class.
Nine residents received the title of outstanding citizens this year include:
1/ Dinh Quang Bao, Chairman of the Board of LADODA and Chairman of the Ha Noi Leather and Shoe Association;
2/ Artisan Tran Van Do in Bat Trang Commune, Gia Lam District;
3/ Do Thuy Ha from the Viet Nam Blind Association’s chapter in Dong Da District;
4/ Nguyen Van Hung – head of a special patrol in Khuong Mai Ward, Thanh Xuan District;
5/ Nguyen Trong Long, Chairman of the Hoang Long cooperative, Thanh Oai District;
6/ People's Artist Dang Nhat Minh – former director of the Viet Nam Cinematography Association;
7/ Ta Thi Ngoc Thanh – Deputy Chairperson of Study Promotion Association of Dich Vong Hau Ward, Cau Giay District;
8/ Nguyen Quang Tuan – Director of the Ha Noi Heart Hospital;
9/ Nguyen Trong Vinh – Head of Nguyen Sieu School’s board of directors.
