In 2017, the district’s economy has recorded high growth rate. The total production value is estimated VND 13,705 billion, reaching 100.5% against the plan, posting a year-on-year increase of 13.6%, in which, the value of agro-forestry-fishery production fetches VND 1,862.4 billion, accounting for 95% against the plan, representing a year-on-year decrease of 2.2%; the production value of industry – construction is estimated at VND 7,793 billion, reaching 101.1% against the plan, up 15.8% in comparison with the same period last year; the value of trade – services reaches VND 4,050 billion, accounting for 102.2% against the plan, posting a year-on-year surge of 18.1%. So far, per capita income reaches VND 37.5 million.
In addition, the district has boosted the conversion of animals and plants with the total area of 1,260 hectares.
In terms of building new-style rural areas, the district has recorded 10 new-style rural communes. In 2017, the district proposed the capital city to check criteria and recognize four additional communes, including: Thanh Thuy, Lien Chau, Kim An and Do Dong.
Furthermore, the district has enhanced land and urban management; improved the efficiency of land use; prevent and handle violation case. Over the past time, the district has adjusted the land use planning by 2020 as a basic for communes, towns and units to implement projects in the area.
To create green – clean – beautiful urban landscape, the district has strengthened communication to encourage local residents to collect, classify and treat domestic waste; ensured environmental sanitation as stipulated by law, etc.
Besides, the district has paid special attention to education, health, social welfare. Particularly, the district built and repaired houses for revolutionary contributors, martyrs’ relatives with the total cost of VND 45 billion. In 2017, the district reduced 386 poor households in comparison with last year. Implementing Decision 1956 of the Prime Minister, the district organized 29 vocational training courses for 1,015 learners.
At the session, the district People’s Council will focus on discussing socio-economic development missions in 2018. Accordingly, the district will strive to fulfill targets of socio-economic development, security and national defense, such as: the economic growth rate will reach 12.5%; state budget revenue will be VND 450 billion; three additional communes will meet new-style rural criteria, etc.
