According to Director of Department of Industry and Trade and Permanent Vice Head of Ha Noi Board of Program on Energy Saving and Efficiency Le Hong Thang, Earth Hour 2017 campaign was successfully launched in Ha Noi, contributing to saving 471,000 kWh in one hour. The Department in coordination with People’s Committees of districts, suburban districts and towns, Ha Noi Electricity Corporation and Women’s Association organized a meeting to encourage households to save power and electricity, drawing participation of over 450 officers from the People’s Committees, electricity companies, households and members of the Women’s Association.
Regarding energy conservation in industrial activities and green sources of electricity production and distribution, 11 facilities in Ha Noi are building power management system, 43 industrial production establishments and enterprises in the fields of plastics and food processing are carrying out energy audit.
The city completed project on setting up lighting system with renewable energy in Ngoc Khanh street (Ba Dinh district), and proposed the use of LED light bulbs and lamps for public lighting system. The Board of Program on Energy Saving and Efficiency is striving to improve energy efficiency in commercial centers, office buildings and high schools. Five establishments are carrying out energy audit; one building is developing energy management system; four commercial centers are considering measures to improve energy efficiency and energy simulation method for commercial centers and schools.
For the next months of 2017, the Board of Program will focus on four key tasks as follows: completing tasks of Program on Energy Saving and Efficiency; setting tasks for 2018; increasing guidance to apply National Standard 09:2013/BXD in energy-efficient works; mobilizing investment of organizations, individuals and other legitimate sources according to legal regulations to implement power-saving measures.
