At the reception, UK Ambassador Giles Lever expressed his sincere thanks to the city administration for creating favorable conditions for activities of the British embassy, the British Council in the city.
He affirmed that the ties between the United Kingdom and Viet Nam in general, Ha Noi in particular has deepened over the past time.
He also said that on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Viet Nam – UK diplomatic ties and the 25th anniversary of the British Council’s operation in Viet Nam, the British Embassy scheduled to organize a cultural exchange program titled “England Day” at Hoan Kiem Lake and expected to receive the city’s support.
Highlighting the gained achievements over the past time, the diplomat said that Ha Noi is the first locality in Viet Nam, piloting the A-Level UK High School Program at Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and Chu Van An High School.
He hoped that in the coming time, Ha Noi will boost the cooperation with the British Council in the field of education and training.
In reply, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee agreed with the proposal of organizing “England Day” in Ha Noi and affirmed that the city authority will support the event, contributing to fostering the Viet Nam – UK relations.
Additionally, Ha Noi will give assistance to the UK business community operating in the area and co-organize an event to strengthen investment promotion activities between Ha Noi and the UK.
On the occasion, the city leader also released a plan on replicating A-level education models at secondary schools as well as a project on teaching English from primary to high schools throughout the city.
He hoped that the British Council will assist Ha Noi in realizing the above-mentioned goals.
Besides, UK Ambassador Giles Lever also referred F1 racing and affirmed that the UK Embassy will support Ha Noi to successfully co-organize the event.
Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung higly appreciated the diplomat’s great contributions over the past time and hope that in a new position, Mr. Giles Lever will continue acting as a bridge to tighten the two countries’ relations.
