Ha Noi Gift Show 2017 officially kicks off (20:28 19/10/2017)


HNP - The export-orienting Handicraft Gift Show in Ha Noi 2017 (Ha Noi Gift Show) was officially opened at the exhibition fair and economic-trade transaction area (No. 489 Hoang Quoc Viet street, Cau Giay District). The opening ceremony saw the attendance of Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Cao Quoc Hung, Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee's chapter in Ha Noi Vu Hong Khanh and Vice Chairman of the Ha Noi People's Committee Nguyen Doan Toan.

This year’s event draws the participation of over 250 enterprises and production facilities from nearly 30 provinces and cities across the country, such as: Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hue, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ben Tre, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa Nghe An, etc., and five other countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, India and Nepal.

With more than 650 booths, the event showcases five major product groups, including home decor and handicrafts; indoor and outdoor furniture; home textiles and embroidery; personal accessories; gifts and cultural products.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ha Noi People's Committee Nguyen Doan Toan said that  this year's event is estimated to attract around 600 importers from many countries and territories in the world, such as:  the US, EU, Japan, Russia, Taiwan, many of whom have large purchasing power (over $ 100 million a year).

This exhibition is a golden opportunity for handicraft businesses, enterprises throughout the country to promote, introduce products, seek customers, expand export markets and help foreign buyers visit the production facility, shorten the negotiation time with the business, moreover, businesses can also save costs, improve efficiency when participating at the fair. At the same time, help businesses, artisans and skilled workers have the opportunity to exchange, and learn from each other in designing, producing and trading their products, he stressed.

The event shows efforts and commitments which Ha Noi has made to build a government of facilitation and to providing support for local businesses and trade villages, he added.

On his speech at the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Cao Quoc Hung said that Ha Noi was the leading region in Viet Nam in terms of the number of handicraft villages, with nearly 1,000 handicraft villages, including over 200 traditional handicraft villages. The city has also thousands of enterprises and handicraft production facilities, with more than 3,000 of them producing for export.

He suggested the city focus on incentives for trade villages and instructed the municipal Department of Industry and Trade to continue to organize the annual event and make it a leading export fair in terms of scale and quality.

Jointly organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in co-operation with Ha Noi  People’s Committee, the event will last until October 20.

In 2016, the fair attracted around 245 enterprises from provinces, cities in the country and some countries in the world, such as Germany, Japan, Republic of Korea, China, etc.

The fair received around 10,000 visitors, including around 600 foreign importers. Entrepreneurs participating in the fair signed the product consumption contract estimated at US$ 3.5 million.
