Thuong Tin District promotes agricultural restructuring in association with development of concentrated production areas (16/03/2017)
HNP – According to Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thuong Tin District Nguyen Tuan Thinh, thanks to restructuring of crops and livestock, the district has recorded several production models with high economic values, such as: VietGap vegetables in Ninh So Communes; pig production, etc.

Over the past time, the district Party Committee and the People’s Committee have focused on agricultural restructuring towards high-quality agriculture as well as promoting livestock sector, fishery exploitation towards safety. In 2016, the proportion of the livestock sector reached 42%.
In addition, the district has changed the structure of plants and animals in association with the production planning in building new-style rural areas; established several concentrated production areas in communes, including: Rice in Thang Loi, Nghiem Xuyen, Dung Tien, To Hieu, Van Tu, Nguyen Trai, etc, fruits in Van Tao, Hong Van, etc, flowers and ornamental plants in Thu Phu, Le Loi, Thong Nhat, Nghiem Xuyen, etc, safe vegetables in Ha Hoi, Thu Phu, Van Tao, Quat Dong, etc.
Especially, in 2016, the district has also paid attention to aquaculture in low-productivity rice cultivation areas; planning converted areas and giving orientation to structure of plants and animals; selecting good crops, animals for economic development. Particularly, the district has exchanged 813 hectares of rice for safe vegetables, flower ornamental plants and aquaculture.
Along with crops, the district has planned concentrated farming regions far from residential areas in accordance with the planning on new–style rural areas; put technical advances, new varieties into production. At present, the district has 93 farms with high economic efficiency, contributing to creating jobs for numerous laborers in communes.
Thanks to the above achievements, many households have stabilized their economy and gradually escaped from poverty. In 2016, per capita income reached VND32.5 million; the rate of poor households reduced under 3.8%.
In 2017, the district will continue reviewing, adjusting, supplementing planning on new-style rural areas; boosting restructuring of agricultural sector towards hi-tech agricultural commodities; enhancing applications of scientific and technical advance in production to improve productivity, quality of crops, animals; strengthening the deployment of models linking to four objects, including: scientists, farmers, managers and entrepreneurs; developing intensive production areas in association with building trade marks for products so as to bring higher values to producers.
