Festival honoring Mother Goddess held in Ha Noi (10/11/2017)
HNP – A ceremony was organized to officially kick off the festival honoring Mother Goddess held by the Thang Long – Ha Noi Cultural Heritage Association at Rung Temple, Long Bien District, Ha Noi on November 9.

Under the theme “Practicing traditional Mother Goddess and innovations in the contemporary society in Ha Noi”, the festival drew the participation of twenty nine mediums and performers in spiritual rites from Ha Noi and other provinces, cities.
Known as a traditional cultural activity, the festival aims at implementing the national action program on protecting and promoting the value of an Intangible Cultural Heritages of Humanity - Viet Nam’s tradition of worshipping Mother Goddess.
Twenty nine instrumentalists and vocalists will present a trance performance to pay tribute to 50 genies worshipped as part of the Mother Goddesses beliefs. In Viet Nam’s Mother Goddess worshipping practice, there are Four Palaces including Nhac Phu (Forest), Thien Phu (Heaven), Thuy Phu (Water) and Dia Phu (Earth). With the participation of artist troupes, the event is expected to help promotinge unique indigenous culture and practices.

Dr. Luu Minh Tri, Chairman of Thang Long – Ha Noi Cultural Heritage Association affirmed that the event is a chance to make clearer the origin, features and value of Mother Goddess worshipping practice. So, it is necessary to build measures to preserve and promote the heritage’s value.
Within the framework of the festival, the Viet Nam Music Development Centre will host a workshop on preserving and promoting Mother Goddess worshipping at Hao Nam Temple, Hao Nam Street, Ha Noi.
The closing ceremony will take place on November 13, 2017 at Hao Nam Temple, Dong Da District, Ha Noi.
