Celebrating the 60th founding anniversary of the Ha Noi Red Cross Association (14/11/2017)
HNP – The Ha Noi Red Cross Association solemnly organized a ceremony on November 12, celebrating its 60th founding anniversary (November 23, 1957 – 2017) as well as meeting 584 Chair-people of Red Cross Associations at the grassroots and 60 outstanding philanthropists in 2017.

The event saw the attendance of Member of the Party Central Committee, Honorary Chairwoman of the Ha Noi Red Cross Association and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee and Ngo Thi Thanh Hang; Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front’s chapter of Ha Noi Vu Hong Khanh; Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Doan Toan.
Along with the development and growth of the Viet Nam Red Cross Society, over the past 60 years, the Ha Noi Red Cross Association has affirmed its important role in operating humanitarian activities, contributing to ensuring social welfare. Now, the Association has its organizations in 30 districts, suburban districts, towns, 584 communes, wards, 14 subordinate units and 1,200 chapters in schools, agencies and enterprises with a total of 605,000 members, youths and volunteers.
In addition, over the past years, Red Cross Associations at all levels have effectively implemented many movements, programs and campaigns drawing various officials, members, volunteers, red cross youths, enterprises, philanthropists. For example, through the movement “Tet holiday for the poor and victims of Agent Orange” 2017, the Association encouraged and presented 129,869 gifts to poor households, Agent Orange victims, people with disabilities and those in difficult circumstances with the total cost of over VND 51.7 billion; and via the campaign “Each individual supports a humanitarian address” and the program “Bank for cows – along with people in poor districts and border communes to build new style rural areas, the Association offered 217 cows worth over VND 3.2 billion, etc.
Addressing the celebrating ceremony, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang praised the results and great contributions of the Red Cross Association to social welfare and the capital’s economic development over the past 60 years. He also emphasized that the association has made more efforts to strengthen communication and innovate its operation method to draw the participation of various local people. Thus, campaigns, programs and movements have gained remarkable achievements, etc.
To promote the glorious tradition as well as to improve the position and the role of Red Cross Association, in the coming time, the Permanent Deputy Secretary asked the Red Cross Associations at all levels to continue innovating operation methods; building a strong and professional association; encouraging officials, members, volunteers, philanthropists to effectively carry out programs, campaigns and humanitarian activities, etc.
Besides, Red Cross Associations at all levels should advise Party Committees and local authorities to effectively perform the Directive 43 of the Secretariat of the Central Committee Communist Party on boosting the Party’s leadership for the red cross task”; carrying out campaigns, such as “Each individual supports a humanitarian address”, “Tet holiday for the poor”, etc.
The city official also suggested that the association should enhance the popularization; proactively build humanitarian funds at all levels; encourage people to positively take part in voluntary blood donation campaigns, environmental protection, public healthcare; strictly implement guidelines, policies of the Party, laws of the State in the field of humanity.
Permanent Deputy Secretary Hang also asked Party Committees, authorities, Fatherland Front Committees, sectors and organizations at all levels to pay attention to creating favorable conditions for the Red Cross Association to perform its duties. Furthermore, organizations, agencies, enterprises and philanthropists will continue participating in humanitarian activities launched by the association.

On the occasion, the Red Cross Association signed cooperative programs on humanitarian activities with the Department of Tourism and Oriental Medicine Association of Ha Noi; launched the movement “Tet holiday for the poor and Agent Orange victims” 2018; honored 60 Chair-people of Red Cross Associations at grassroots and 60 outstanding philanthropists in 2017; presented bicycles to 60 excellent students in difficult circumstances. Besides, delegates took part in a photo exhibition with over 100 pictures featuring activities of the Red Cross Association in all fields.
