Ha Noi: More drastic measures to prevent dengue fever (11/08/2017)
HNP – Member of the Politburo and Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai on August 10 visited dengue fever patients treated in Thanh Nhan Hospital as well as checked prevention and control of the disease in Hoang Mai District, one of two localities with serious dengue fever epidemic. The delegation includes Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu.

Reporting to the inspection delegation, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hoang Mai District said that, the situation of dengue fever has been become complicated. By August 9, the district recorded 2,483 cases with 400 outbreaks across 14 wards in the area. Some wards haves a large number of patients, such as: Vinh Hung (317 ones), Hoang Van Thu (316 cases), Tuong Mai (300 cases), Tan Mai (247 cases), Hoang Liet (229 cases), Thinh Liet (209 cases), etc.
To prevent the epidemic, wards established 1,780 mobile teams and 150 supervision groups; launched 29 environmental sanitation campaigns; killed mosquitoes and larva and sprayed chemicals in all localities; checked larva in 85,750 households; removed and treated 7,619 outbreaks as stipulated by regulations.
However, due to many buildings, scrap, waste in residential areas as well as the number of migrants changed regularly, it was difficult to prevent the spread of the epidemic.

Witnessing the increase of dengue fever cases in Ha Noi in recent weeks, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long warned that, at present, the capital city ranks the second among provinces and cities across the country. However, with the sharp increase of dengue fever cases recently, Ha Noi can be the top of the country. The Deputy Minister of Health requested that the capital city must boost the mobilization to call for local people to proactively take part in preventing the disease. Especially in the situation, the city should mobilize army forces to respond to the effort.

Making conclusion at the working session, Secretary of the Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai highly appreciated the creativity and drastic participation of Hoang Mai District in preventing the outbreaks, especially the foundation of mobile groups in charge of strengthening the popularization in residential areas, contributing to raising the people’s awareness in preventing the spread of dengue fever.
He also noted that the district should further boost the popularization of dengue fever, preventive measures and treatment, etc.
According to the Secretary, this year, the epidemic outbreaks early with a large number of cases. Therefore, Ha Noi should further focus on controlling the disease. Party Committees of districts, wards are directly responsible for the prevention and control of dengue fever in localities; arranging enough resources to treat the outbreak. Initially, Ha Noi will launch environmental sanitation campaigns throughout the city; strictly handle organizations and individuals who do not cooperate with authorized agencies. He also asked the Department of Health to direct medical facilities to review and positively treat cases of dengue fever.
Previously, Secretary of the Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai visited and presented gifts to dengue fever patients treated in Thanh Nhan Hospital as well as checked the prevention and control of the disease in construction works in residential areas.
