HNP - At the 5th session of the Municipal People’s Council on December 4, Head of the Ha Noi People's Procuracy Nguyen Duy Giang presented report on the People's Procuracy performance in 2017, orientation and mission in 2018.
Head of the Ha Noi People's Procuracy Nguyen Duy Giang delivers report at the session, Ha Noi, December 4.
According to Head of the Municipal People's Procuracy Nguyen Duy Giang, there were complicated movements in security and order; the crime rate increased against the last year, mostly crimes were in the field of social order.
In 2017, the Municipal People's Procuracy fulfilled its goals and even reached beyond targets, and cooperated with other sectors to handle cases. Quality of prosecution was improved; right to petition of the People's Procuracy was maintained. 334 written requests on handling violations in justice and 18 written requests on crime prevention were submitted to government agencies in localities; most of them were received and processed timely.
Apart from the progress, there are still unfulfilled targets, such as online courts to learn experiences; some criminal and civil cases were canceled for re-investigation or re-trial. The Municipal People's Procuracy would direct units to solve these problems in 2018, he confirmed.
Furthermore, child sexual abuse has been increasing at an alarming rate recently. Nguyen Duy Giang asked the People’s Councils at all levels to urge authorities to increase popularization and education of law, proactively take measures for supervision and prevention, especially management measures for hotels, schools, residential areas and households. Rate of administrative case settlement of the Court was low due to loose cooperation among administrative agencies. Therefore, the People's Procuracy suggested that Municipal People’s Council should urge the authorities to cooperate, provide documents and evidence, and assign competent staff to attend the courts; Municipal People’s Council and People’s Committee should instruct relevant agencies and units to increase inspection, detect and handle violations in real estate projects, investment and construction management.
