Drastic effort to prevent and fight dengue fever (05/10/2017)
HNP - The Office of Municipal People’s Committee issued Announcement 229/TB-VP dated September 27, stating conclusion of Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy at online meeting on dengue fever prevention and control.
Due to rain and wet weather in Ha Noi, dengue fever might spread again. The Municipal People’s Committee requests directors and heads of city’s departments, sectors, Chairpeople of People’s Committees of districts and towns to urge agencies and units, and take measures according to instruction of health authorities, focusing on tasks as following.
Districts, suburban districts, communes, wards and towns strictly take measures to kill mosquito larvae, spray chemicals to eradicate mosquito in households; it is expected that 95% of households spray repellent properly and sufficiently. Chemicals are sprayed widely in disease areas in communes and wards. Authorities check establishment of working groups, clean up the environment and spray chemicals to kill mosquito in offices, construction sites and public places. Inspection is increased, along with popularization and severe punishment for violations in disease prevention and control.
The districts, suburban districts, communes, wards and towns in cooperation with Department of Education and Training direct popularization, activities to clean up the environment and eradicate mosquito larvae in schools and houses. The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in coordination with Party unit of universities, colleges and Department of Health urge drastic measures for dengue fever prevention and control, thus preventing disease outbreak.
Department of Health, People’s Committees of districts, towns, wards and communes, and relevant units assess performance in disease prevention and control through criteria, such as number of new cases in the week, increase/ decrease against the last week, number of outbreaks in the area, percentage of households who eradicate mosquito larvae thoroughly, and number of households where chemicals are sprayed.
