According to a report of Soc Son District, since the beginning of 2018, total value of agricultural production was estimated at over VND 1,960 billion, posting a year on year surge of 2.66%.
Additionally, the district has recorded 200 hectares of safe tea, 330 hectares of safe vegetables, 40 hectares of organic vegetables, 148 hectares of jasmine, and 1,170 hectares of fruits. Four mushroom producing areas, six mushroom producing cooperatives and two agricultural product consumption chains have been established in the locality, contributing to increasing farmers’ income. In 2017, per capita income reached VND 39.5 million.
Besides, the district has positively enhanced the technology application in production; paid special attention to organic farming methods which are environmentally friendly. Currently, five hi-tech production areas are established in the area.

In terms of building new style rural areas, the district has 18 out of 25 communes meeting new style rural criteria. Since the beginning of the year, Soc Son has mobilized available resources to build rural infrastructure.
Notably, the movement “All people consolidate to build cultural life” has been implemented widely. In 2017, 72.5% of villages were recognized the title “Cultural village”.
Speaking at the session, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang highly appreciated the gained achievements of building new style rural areas over the past time.
However, to promote the achievements, she requested the district to develop new style rural planning towards satellite towns.
“Soc Son District should tighten the management of land, construction while promoting the development so as to minimize violation cases of forestry land”, the Permanent Deputy Secretary noted.
Regarding the building of new style rural areas, she asked the district to carry out the program more drastically and strengthen the popularization to all local people in order to create the consensus among the society.
Besides, the district needs to build more models on clean agricultural production, research crops with high economic value, and take advantages of lands, climate, she urged.
She asked the district to create favorable conditions for businesses to jointly develop tourism and invest in education, healthcare, transport, and organic agricultural production.
She also requested departments, sectors to support seven communes in Soc Son District to build traffic works, schools, clean water supply and cultural facilities so that these communes can finish the building of new style rural areas in 2018 and 2019.
New style rural communes need to strengthen the building of typical rural areas, develop infrastructure to meet the requirement of economic development and improve local people’s living standards so as to ensure sustainable rural development, she stressed.
