Accordingly, over the past year, in addition to coordinating with the city’s departments, sectors to pilot the scheme “Enhancing the management of fresh fruit stores in the downtown districts of the city” and tighten the management of food safety in agricultural wholesales markets, etc, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development recommended the Municipal People’s Committee to issue many directive documents on ensuring food safety of agro, forestry and fishery products, such as strengthening direction for livestock development, aquaculture; maintaining and developing the use of QR code for agricultural product traceability; strengthening the popularization of production and trade of safe food for public health, etc.
Similarly, the Department has successfully organized 424 conferences, seminars, and training courses with 29,646 participants as well as strengthened the popularization under diversified ways to raise people’s awareness of food safety, etc.
Especially, units under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development launched many inspection campaigns in 414 facilities producing, trading agro, forestry, and fishery products; penalized 120 violation cases with the total fine of VND 1 billion. Meanwhile, Veterinary Stations in 30 districts, suburban districts, and towns in collaboration with inter-sectorial inspection teams checked 26,792 turns of facilities and penalized 1,192 cases with the fine of VND 3.1 billion.
Besides, the Department has paid special attention to building safe food supply chains. So far, about 80 safe food chains have been established throughout the city. Moreover, five collective trademarks and 13 others of commodities have been built successfully.
