Accordingly, since the beginning of the year, the Steering Committee has established a total of 778 inspection delegations to check 70,258 turns of facilities, in which, 57,803 facilities have met food safety standards.
Via inspection campaigns, functional agencies penalized 4,801 facilities with the total fine of over VND 17.3 billion.
In addition, the Municipal Steering Committee has taken 393 samples for testing. Result showed that 353 out of 393 met microbiological and physiological criteria.
In terms of settling administrative procedures on food safety, the city has granted 2,391 certificates and 387 sublicenses of food safety before February 2nd, 2018 when Decree 15/2018/ND-CP of the Government takes effect.
In the remaining months, the Municipal Steering Committee for Food Safety asked departments, sectors, People’s Committees of districts, towns to enhance the state management and increase local leaders’ responsibilities for food safety; strengthen the cooperation in ensuring food safety; and take various measures for food safety and prevention of food poisoning, etc.
