The Association has considered poverty reduction as a key mission. Thus, the association has opened vocational training courses and created new jobs for thousands of the blind, helping its members stabilize and improve their living standards.
Since 2017, a total of 168 projects have been made; 1,384 turns of people have been provided with loans worth over VND 32.3 billion; and 5,685 visually impaired people have had stable jobs. Via loan programs, numerous members have escaped from the poverty.
Besides, thanks to charitable funds, the association has built 68 houses and repaired 46 other for members with the total cost of VND 1.6 billion; 100% of households have accessed clean water.
In terms of social allowance, a total of 3,422 members have been given allowances according to Decree 28/CP; 19,606 turns of members have been granted health insurance cards and 1,220 turns have been given free bus tickets, etc.
Continuing to deploy missions in the coming time, the Municipal Blind Association strives to encourage all members to respond to the campaigns; maintain and promote the gained achievements over the past time.
Especially, in terms of poverty reduction, the association strives to fulfill targets, including: 100% of members will be provided with loans to stabilize their lives; reducing the poverty reduction rate of at least 2% every year; around 80-90% of the blind will enjoy preferential policies of the Party and State; taking care of visually impaired women and children; proactively encouraging agencies, communities to give donations to support the blind.
At the conference, the Municipal Blind Association praised and handed over certificates of merit to 88 outstanding members who have positive contributions to its activities and community development.
