Ha Noi welcomed 69,207 international arrivals, a year-on-year increase of 33%; 49,829 of them stayed overnight in the city, a year-on-year increase of 34%. The number of Vietnamese tourists was estimated at 177,000 people, up 5.4% against the same period last year.
Total proceeds from tourists reached VND 789 billion, an increase of 17% in comparison to the same period of 2017.
According to the Sector of Immigration under Ha Noi Police Department, from February 14 to 18, Ha Noi welcomed foreign visitors from 146 countries and territories, mostly from China, Korea, Japan, the US, France, Germany, Taiwan, Australia, Malaysia and Thailand. The city witnessed sharp rise of tourists from the UK with 2,859 arrivals, increasing 53.98% against the same period last year. There was also significant increase of oversea Vietnamese travelers with 242 arrivals, going up 135% against the same period last year.
Tourist attractions see remarkable development in the Lunar New Year. For example, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel received 12,557 visitors only in the first two days of Lunar New Year, increasing 55.4% against the same period last year; Huong Son Complex received around 2,300 arrivals, increasing 7%. The number of tourists to other destinations was equal to the last year, such as Ngoc Son Temple and Viet Nam National Villages For Ethnic Culture And Tourism.
Programs and festivals were organized successfully at the tourist attractions, such as Tet Viet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Calligraphy Festival at Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), “Spring All Over the Country” at the Viet Nam National Villages For Ethnic Culture And Tourism and Spring Book Street 2018, attracting tourists and locals during the holiday.
Furthermore, a festival of light and music was organized for the first time at Bao Son Paradise from February 17 to March 16, and Oriental Lunar New Year at West Lake Water Park from February 16 to February 25, offering a number of activities and music performances to people and satisfying their demand of entertainment.
Hotels in Ha Noi offered their programs to celebrate the Lunar New Year to their guests, such as special package for Lunar New Year (Sheraton hotel), Lunar New Year market (Sofitel Legend Metropole), and countdown party (Pan Pacific).
