Ha Noi People’s Committee Chairman offers badge to Deputy Ambassador of Japan in Viet Nam (18:24 15/09/2018)


HNP – On September 13, the Municipal People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung offered “For the construction of the Capital” badge to Deputy Ambassador of Japan in Viet Nam Katsuro Nagai, who contributed greatly to the socio-economic development of the city.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung congratulated Deputy Ambassador of Japan Katsuro Nagai, as he successfully completed his tenure in Viet Nam. During his four-year tenure in Viet Nam, Katsuro Nagai fulfilled his tasks as an Envoy (from August 2014) and the Deputy Ambassador of Japan (from February 2018). He made significant contribution to enhancing the friendship and cooperation relations between Viet Nam and Japan in general, and  Ha Noi and Japan in particular. The Deputy Ambassador also supported the friendship and cooperation relations between Ha Noi and localities of Japan, arranged meetings between high-level officials of Ha Noi and Japanese government agencies as well as social, economic organizations, thus promoting the mutual cooperation.

Thanks to assistance of the Deputy Ambassador and the staff of Japanese Embassy, a number of large-scale ODA and FDI projects have been implemented in Ha Noi, such as urban railway line No. 2, projects on power supply and waste treatment in suburban districts of the capital city, investment project on smart city in the North of Ha Noi, and project of Nidec Group in the Hoa Lac high-tech industrial zone.

Furthermore, Deputy Ambassador Katsuro Nagai contributed to expanding the exchanges between people of the two countries, spreading the beauty of Viet Nam and image of Vietnamese people through culture and art events like Sakura Festival held annually in Ha Noi. His effort contributed significantly to strengthening the relations between Viet Nam and Japan.

On behalf of city leaders, Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung expressed sincere thanks for the support of the Deputy Ambassador and staffs of Japanese Embassy. He expected that Katsuro Nagai, with his new position, will continue to act as the bridge for activities between the people, the delegates and the enterprises of Viet Nam and Japan, thus further boosting investment and trading.

For his part, Deputy Ambassador Katsuro Nagai expressed his honor to receive the badge for his contribution to Ha Noi.

He showed gratitude towards Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung as well as Ha Noi officials for their support for Japanese Embassy, and confirmed his esteem for Viet Nam generally and for Ha Noi particularly.
