Strengthening prevention and control of HFMD and mosquito-borne diseases in schools (22:28 21/03/2018)
Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training requested educational establishments to continue effectively carrying out measures for disease prevention and control as instructed by medical agencies and strengthen environmental sanitation to prevent mosquito-borne diseases.
In terms of HFMD prevention and control, Divisions of Education and Training of districts, suburban districts and towns are tasked to cooperate with medical stations to advise People’s Committees of districts, towns to launch environmental sanitation and disinfection campaigns to proactively prevent HFMD at all preschools in the area; check and supervise HFMD prevention and control in educational establishments.
Divisions of Education and Training are responsible for asking educational establishments, especially preschools (child groups) to strictly obey instructions of health agencies on HFMD prevention and control, including:
Promoting the popularization of HFMD prevention and control to all managers, teachers, students and their parents; deploying many solutions for environmental sanitation to prevent HFMD in accordance with guidelines of the health sector; giving instructions to students, teachers to wash their hands with soap; ensuring food safety and hygiene; monitoring the total number and health of students, teachers, officials and staffs to detect case of illness; encouraging parents to give information of illness cases; isolating and taking care of patients in accordance with instructions, etc.
When the epidemic breaks out, schools must cooperate with medical agencies in localities to monitor and handle outbreaks as stipulated by law and give reports to educational management levels, medical stations of communes and wards.
