Ministry of Education and Training reviews 2016 - 2017 school year (21:34 23/08/2017)

HNP - Ministry of Education and Training organized an online conference on August 21 at the National Convention Center (Ha Noi) to review the 2016-2017 school year and carry out tasks in the 2017-2018 school year.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha attended the conference; Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung and Vice Chairman Ngo Van Quy were present at the venue of Ha Noi.

According to Vice Minister of Education and Training Pham Manh Hung, in the 2016-2017 school year, the education sector carried out nine key tasks and five measures, and witnessed significant progress. The network of educational establishments were re-organized; quality of teachers and educational officers at all levels were assessed, and training plans for teachers were implemented.

Career orientation was promoted and integrated in high school education program as well as enrollment advisory service. Information technology was applied; educational management and online studying software for teachers and officers was put into use. Facilities in schools were standardized and modernized gradually; more preschools and high schools satisfy the national standard.

In the 2016-2017 school year, Viet Nam successfully provided universal pre-school education for children aged 5; more preschool children attended kindergartens, and child-oriented education method was applied. Teaching method was improved in an effort to develop quality and capacity of students.

According to Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy, Ha Noi successfully called for investment of the private sector in education, and diversified education. So far, the city has 2,669 schools and education establishments, over 1.8 million students at all levels, and the most prize winners in national and international contests (146 prizes, including 11 first prizes).

The city also saw sharp increase in quantity and quality of teachers and educational officers. Schools enhanced the use of information and technology; preschools, primary schools and secondary schools offered online enrollment, attracting over 250,000 families; teacher e-markbook and e-school profile are put into use, and the system received over 18 million visits.     

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam acknowledged the development in the 2016-2017 school year. He asked the sector to enhance education of morality and skills for students, and increase effort to launch new high school education program and conduct pedagogical training. For enrollment and entrance exam, the Deputy PM urged education sector to improve upper secondary school examination, create favorable for students and transfer authority for enrollment to the schools.
