Ha Noi College of Art began its story in 1967 as Ha Noi High School of Culture and Arts under the Department of Culture and Information. In 1995, after ten years of the nation’s reform, the college was upgraded to Ha Noi College of Art under the direct management of the Municipal People’s Committee. The college’s major functions are to train and foster art students at college level and to conduct scientific researches on arts for the development of the Capital’s culture and arts. Currently, the college provides curriculums of 14 artistic disciplines with 21 majors, which are being taught to more than 1,400 students by 120 qualified lecturers.
Over the past 50 years of construction and development, Ha Noi College of Art has gained many remarkable achievements. Apart from professional duties, the college has also well implemented the political missions. Annually, 150 internal and external music and dance shows are performed according to the request of the Ha Noi People’s Committee, contributing to improving the quality of education and training for the comprehensive development of the capital city and the country.
In terms of regional and international training cooperation, the college has entered into comprehensive cooperation in art education with conservatories and art academies, such as: Guangxi Arts Institute – China, Conservatory of Toulouse, Toulouse Art School (Institut superieur des Arts de Toulouse (ISDAT)), Canne Conservatory – France; Conservatory of South Ostrobotnia – Finland, Kyongi University – South Korea, and National Pingtung University - Taiwan, etc. In the coming time, the college will boost cooperative programs, international exchange for students to access to advanced education methods.

With the remarkable achievements, Ha Noi College of Art has received many merit certificates, emulation flags of the Government, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ha Noi People’s Committee. Especially, in 2011, the State President presented Third-Class Labor Medal and other noble rewards to recognize excellent results in education and training, contributing to the cause of building the socialism and protecting the country.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy highly appreciated the great achievements gained by Ha Noi College of Art over the past 50 years. In the coming time, the Vice Chairman asked the college increasing more efforts to improve the quality of education and training so as to meet the demand for qualified human resources in the period of industrialization, modernization and international integration.
The city leader also requested the college to continue to renew contents, programs and teaching methods as well as invest in modern facilities for learners.
He expressed his belief that officials, teachers and staffs would promote unity tradition to well implement the training duty and try their best to develop the college into a trust art education establishment of the capital and the country.
