Addressing the opening ceremony, Ha Noi Chairman Chung stressed that this is an important event, contributing to raising awareness of Hanoians on climate change.
In an effort to implement international commitments under the Paris Agreement on climate change, the Government has proactively integrated climate change targets into its national development agenda. Ha Noi authorities also set environmental protection and sustainable development towards a strategic priority in its development, Chung said.
Ha Noi Chairman voiced his hope that EU will continue cooperate with Ha Noi on the basis of mutual benefits.
Ambassador – Head of EU delegation, Bruno Angelet said that responding to climate change is an important priority in the EU's relations with Viet Nam. Accordingly, the EU is assisting Viet Nam's energy transformation, which includes significant financial support, as energy is a key sector for economic growth, but is also a large source of greenhouse gas emissions.
He expresses expressed his wish that the EU Climate Diplomacy will become an annual event, as well as cooperation in this field with the city will be expanded and developed.
