Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said that over the past years, Ha Noi has made greater gains in prevention and control of HIV/AIDS. Various preventive activities, such as communication, test counseling, harm reduction, etc have been deployed comprehensively in all districts, suburban districts and towns. Especially, the capital city has proactively invested in nearly 20 Methadone treatment facilities. Antiretroviral (ARV) treatment and prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV have also been implemented effectively in the area. The above achievements have significantly contributed to preventing HIV/AIDS.

The Deputy Minister also asked the city’s leaders, agencies, sectors and Party Committees, authorities at all levels to focus on directing, investing in HIV/AIDS prevention programs. He requested the city’s health sector to provide services to meet vital demands so as to ensure that all people can access the services of HIV treatment and prevention; focus on deploying models, services for objects; call on local people to proactively protect their health, positively take part in preventing diseases, HIV/AIDS, drug abuses.

Addressing the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Le Hong Son asked all levels, sectors and local people to continue improving the awareness of HIV/AIDS prevention and control; strengthening more investment in HIV/AIDS prevention in localities; providing HIV test consulting services to meet vital demands, especially HIV/AIDS treatment by Methadone; boosting sustainability of the program; preparing necessary conditions for paying the cost of HIV/AIDS treatment from health insurance funds; increasing support for people living with HIV/AIDS and creating favorable conditions for them to participate in anti-HIV/AIDS activities, etc.
