According to Deputy Director of the Ha Noi Department of Tourism Nguyen Anh Dung, in 2017, the Department of Tourism has strengthened the state management of tourism so as to build a healthy, friendly and safe environment for tourists; cooperated with districts and suburban districts to make surveys and build tourist attractions throughout the capital city; coordinated with provinces and cities across the country to connect destinations between Ha Noi and localities.
Especially, the Department has implemented a cooperative program with the CNN in making two 30-second films (Ha Noi - Heart of Viet Nam and Ha Noi - Cradle of heritage) and broadcasting them on the CNN in four regions of Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe and Middle East.
It is estimated that in 2017, Ha Noi receives 23.83 million tourists (posting a year-on-year increase of 9% and exceeding 1% against the plan), in which, the number of international visitors reaches 4.95 million (representing a year-on-year surge of 23% and exceeding 15% against the plan). Tourism revenue is around VND 70,958 billion (posting a year-on-year increase of 15% and exceeding 6.7% against the plan).
Asian tourists from China, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea topped the list of arrivals, followed by travelers from Australia, Germany, France and the U.S.
In 2018, Ha Noi will be expected to receive 25,408,000 turns of tourists, up 7% in comparison with 2017, in which, the number of international visitors will reach 5.5 million, posting a year-on-year surge of 11%. The tourism revenue is forecast to touch VND 75,783 billion.
To achieve the above targets, the Department of Tourism will strengthen communication and tourism promotion; build tourism products along Hong, Duong and Day rivers, in traditional craft villages of Bat Trang, Van Phuc and Duong Lam ancient village; set up several traditional art performances at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, Thang Long Citadel, Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam and in the Old Quarter.
