At the reception, President of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation Douglas Foo expressed his sincere thanks to the warm welcome of the Ha Noi authority. He also affirmed the solid foundation of the Singapore – Viet Nam relationship through strong cooperation commitments between two parts.
President of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation Douglas Foo said that, over 85 over past years of establishment and development, the Federation has witnessed and had significant contribution to the cause of modernization and industrialization of Singapore. He said 2017 marks the development of Singapore’s industry, adding that e-commerce and digital economy will be the country’s priorities in 2018 when it assumes the rotating ASEAN Chair. At the working session, Douglas Foo said that Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong suggested using digital technology to connect ASEAN member economies. Singapore wishes to pour more investments in nations in Southeast Asia and the world at large, including Viet Nam, he said
In reply, Chairman of the Municipal People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung agreed that the business connection through digital technology will be a long-term trend development all over the world, Viet Nam in general and Ha Noi in particular.
On the occasion, the city Chairman gave information of the capital’s socio – economic development. In the first nine months of the year, the GRDP was estimated at 8.1%, meanwhile, Ha Noi sets its target for GRDP growth at 8.5% by the end of 2017. At present, Ha Noi records 260 businesses, 37.6% of them are operating in industry – supporting industry.
Ha Noi has made first steps in technological development, digitalization of data in the management of land, offices, businesses, public services and corporate tax declaration, he said.
Chung emphasized that Viet Nam in general and Ha Noi in particular wished to cooperate with Singapore in industrial development.
The official expressed his hope that with economic potential and advantages in land and human resources, Ha Noi will be a suitable destination for Singaporean investors in the future, and that Singapore’s projects will gain successes in Viet Nam.
The President of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation showed his expression of Ha Noi’s potential for development. He pledged that he will make more efforts to boost the cooperation between Singapore and provinces, cities of Viet Nam.
